Остальные начали паниковать, но когда они попытались вернуться, тоннель стал странно менять форму, и они не могли найти выход. Красная Шапочка не заподозрила ничего плохого. Она шла по самой длинной дороге, «по пути то и дело останавливалась, рвала цветы и собирала в букеты». Волк был очень голодным, «потому что три дня ничего не ел». Увидев беспомощную старушку, он тут же проглотил ее. Затем он улегся в бабушкину постель и стал дожидаться Красную Шапочку. Девочка не сразу догадалась, что перед ней Волк, а не бабушка. Она лишь подивилась большим рукам, глазам и зубам. Волк кинулся на Красную Шапочку и проглотил ее. По счастью, мимо проходили дровосеки.
